Arc Infrastructure and FI Joint Venture (FIJV) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore a rail-based supply chain for FIJV’s Yogi Magnetite Project in WA’s Mid West.
The MoU focuses on concept development and feasibility, with a view to assessing and potentially developing a solution for FIJV’s project to export through Geraldton Port, adopting the principle for infrastructure to be multi-user and open access, where practicable.
Included in the scope of the collaborative process will be identifying solutions for rail loading, transport, unloading, and port storage, which not only provides a supply chain solution for magnetite from Yogi as the anchor customer, but also has the potential to expand supply chain capacity for current and future customers.
Arc Infrastructure Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Unwin said FIJV’s Yogi project was an exciting development in the Mid West region.
“The scale of iron ore activity in the Mid West is highly promising, and we look forward to working with prospective customers in this sector to move their product on rail.”
“Arc is always looking for opportunities to move new tasks on rail. We are well placed to make strategic investments that unlock supply chain bottlenecks and enable new customers to come onto rail.
“Finding a rail supply chain solution for FIJV will mean less wear and tear on roads in the Mid West, reduced congestion and improved road safety outcomes,” Stephanie said.
FIJV Managing Director Reza Azimi said they were pleased to be working towards a rail-based supply chain.
“We look forward to engaging collaboratively with Arc Infrastructure and Mid West Port Authority to identify solutions which will enable production from the Yogi Magnetite Project to move to port on rail,” Reza said.
The Yogi Magnetite Project is located approximately 250km east-northeast of Geraldton and 18 kilometres north of the township of Yalgoo.
